My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

How are your peacemaking endeavors going? Since Liberation Day has been on the horizon, I haven’t seen as much news about Ukraine or Gaza. Certainly, your team is still negotiating to get both sides to the table & emphasizing compromise.

Making peace is complicated, but every war has eventually ended. According to Google’s AI, it took the Christians 781 years to chase the Moors out of Spain. I’m sure Christians in Granada thought they’d never get out from under Islamic rule, but finally they did. God is change.

Given our common interest in peacemaking, I was surprised to see you waging a trade war. As a quaker, I appreciate your attempt to simplify your calculations on how much to tax incoming goods, but I worry that your formula fails to account for many aspects of our economic relations with other countries. Even worse is the prospect that “trade wars shelter a nation’s less competitive firms while hurting the sales of its more competitive ones.” I got that from the CSM.

I heard you say that this move was going to make America wealthy again. That’s now how I am feeling today given the state of the stock market.

Your tradewar could have the positive effect of curbing our consumption of cheap stuff like the little purple cow bell I got as a promo from the Kings. While cute, it’s certainly is not an essential item & the world will be better off without such small trinkets that clutter our homes & eventually end up in the trash.

Back to peacemaking – given your commitment to this undertaking, I am disturbed that you let EVM talk you into stealing the US Institute of Peace Building worth $500 million. It did not belong to the admin. The people in it were doing the important work of “bolstering the U.S. ability to engage in nonviolent, nonmilitary means of preventing & resolving violence & conflict.” Please reconsider that decision.

Among their many efforts the USIP had experts considering next steps for Burma. The junta continues to run amok there & needs some guidance. The Irrawaddy reports that the junta has attacked its opponents 53 times “since the earthquake struck on March 28, including air strikes, of which 16 came after a ceasefire on April 2.”

I hope you enjoy your candlelight golf dinner tonight with the LIV tour. According to Golf, this weekend is the league’s most important yet when” golf fans will vote with their TV remotes.” 9.4 million Americans will be watching basketball while maybe 2 million will watch golf. If you want to reach your voters, you might give as much attention to Cooper Flagg & his Blue Devils on the court as you do to Phil Mickelson on the links .

BYBS,
