My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Oh my! The change is about to happen. You can rest & I will have to amp it up as I seek to find the “truth” hidden in the misinformation, exaggeration & obfuscation that will fill the airwaves. My practice of discernment for the past 8 years has equipped me for it. I am mindful of 45/47’s unpredictability so I will not speculate about what’s to come & will only comment on the now, now, now.  Should my amygdala start to act up, I will remind myself to breathe & I encourage you to do the same.

            Since your public calendar did not appear today, I can only guess where you are. I assume you are in DC so you can clean out the Oval Office. I’m sure your people will be very careful about the papers that they remove.

            Did you see the piece in today’s Politico where 11 prominent historians commented on your legacy? I’m afraid some of the comments will make you wince including Tevi Troy’s conclusion that you “went from the role of dragon slayer to the person who had enabled the dragon to return.” Perhaps you’ll agree with Geoffrey Kabaservice observation that the democratic party “lost touch with non-college-educated Americans of all races to such an extent that it failed to understand their concerns about inflation, public order, an insecure border & an elite enamored with radical & deeply unpopular theories of race and gender.”

            Reading through the comments confirmed that being POTUS is a huge job with so much responsibility! I appreciate your willingness to do it.

            I regret that my pleas for you to do more to help Burma fell on deaf ears. Hunter Marston, writing for Stimson, shares my regret & notes that “Western inattention has encouraged greater Chinese involvement in Myanmar, not less.” It’ll be interesting to see if 45/47 realizes that the rare earth in Northern Burma is necessary for our continued technological advancement & if he does, what he will do about it.
