My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I’m glad to see that your CV symptoms are subsiding & you are heading back to DC today. I will hold you in the Light as you face the oval office with your new status. I don’t like the term “lame duck” but can’t come up with something else right now. Please ask your team to find a phrase that is more flattering.
I am in the same boat as you, retiring soon, but still wanting to make a contribution & hoping that my institutional wisdom can be helpful rather that stultifying. I don’t want to be the “been there, tried that” person who prevents folks from attempting new things.
Meanwhile, I am embracing my new status as member of WSWC where I am doing my part to foster an egalitarian culture where all voices are heard, & we embrace dissonance as a learning opportunity. It’s a challenge in our capitalistic society to recognize & fight hierarchies, especially when some folks assume they are inevitable. High status people can be oblivious when they are pushing their weight around, so we must alert them to their transgressions in a loving manner.
I’m afraid your team took a long time to alert you to your weaknesses. Now that you have made your decision to let go, do you have any advice to the rest of us on how to make the guy in charge listen to critique?
The junta could certainly use that kind of information as they need to help Gen Min Aung Hlaing see that taking over for acting president, Myint Swe (MS) strips away the only veneer of legitimacy his dictatorship had. MS may have been just a figure head, but he was elected VP to help Aung San Suu Kyi.
Speaking of VPs, I look forward to learning more about KDH’s platform, especially how she thinks about the military industrial complex.
Thanks for speaking up about the police shooting of Sonya Massey. That kind of thing MUST stop.
BYBS,
RCA
