My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Do you feel secure? Are you preoccupied that you might get shot? Do you still have confidence in the Secret Service? Are you going to bat for Director Kimberly Cheatle?

            I am loathe to spend my whole life protecting myself from something that might happen, but don’t want to be foolish either. I want to avoid the mindset of fearing my fellow humans so I will continue to fight the urge to crawl into my shell & avoid all strangers.

            I hope you feel secure in Las Vegas today & that your remarks at the NAACP go well.

            Did you watch the GOP convention last night? I watched enough to know that my dyed in the wool Republican ancestors were cringing, especially when Sean O’Brien talked about workers being fired for trying to join unions & “economic terrorism” by big corporations. They hated unions!

They might have liked Kristi Noem’s remarks about freedom, & might have been intrigued with her ad campaign to attract workers to SD.

They would have agreed with Sen Tim Scott’s claim that America is not racist, but might have suspected him for misrepresenting himself given that he has written about finding “myself choking on my own fears & disbelief when faced with the realities of an encounter with law enforcement.”

I have no idea what they’d think of 45. My dad was a team player & as chair of the party for James County for a time, heavily identified with his party affiliation, so I fear he would be supportive.
