My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Have you checked in with Uzra Zeya about the new National Unity Government (NUG) Embassy that opened in DC this week? She helped cut the ribbon & said the office was made possible by the BURMA Act. Does that mean that our tax dollars are supporting it? If so, I am happy to hear that. I appreciated her comments about the fake election but am worried that the NUG will request weapons. As you well know, WINTA, so let’s stick to humanitarian aid rather than giving them munitions.
I understand that you will be hosting a showing of “Till” tonight which will be attended by the cast of the film, the family of Emmett Till, students, civil rights leaders, historians and families of victims of hate-fueled violence. I am not sure I’ll see it, but I appreciate your commitment to addressing “racial inequality & making sure that we do everything that we can to deal with that, to deal with that trauma...”
Speaking of films, I saw Tom Hanks’ latest, A Man Called Otto. It’s got some dark parts about loss & grief, but an uplifting message of the power of communion with neighbors. A pivotal scene in the movie revolves around the book, Margarita & the Master, a title shared with me by a Friend in 2020, forgotten & then resurrected just a few days before I saw the movie. When I saw it, I gasped. Now I have to solve the riddle presented to me by the higher power to figure out what that synchronicity signifies.
Does that kind of thing ever happen to you?
BYBS,
