My dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

            It’s a sunny day here in CA & it looks like it’ll be a sunny day there in DC, too. I’ll be planting my tomatoes today. Will you get a chance to be outside?

It’s too bad that you can’t do the Easter Egg Roll on the WH lawn this year. I have enjoyed seeing the photos of you & all the kids over the past years. We usually have an Easter egg hunt in our neighborhood, so we’ll miss that this year. I don’t think we can duplicate that over Zoom. One of my neighbors has proposed an Easter parade on bikes, but I’m not sure that’s a good idea. Don’t you think it’s kind of weird that people who never step foot in a church do all of this Easter stuff? I wonder what Jesus would say about that.

            I’m so glad that you had Bishop Harry Jackson pray at the WH yesterday. I appreciated his plea, to “let e pluribus unum be a reality in us. Let there be a uniting of America. Heal the divide between race, class, and gender.” Have you seen his 6 steps on the journey to transformative grace? I think you are doing really well on Step 4: Endure in the Face of Adversity. You need to work on Step 1: Have a humble & willing spirit. How are you doing with personal purity these days? That’s Step 6.

            I understand that you intend to make a big announcement on Tuesday about “opening the country back up.” Is that really your decision to make? You have distributed the responsibility for procuring supplies to the governors, so shouldn’t they be the ones who decide when their states “open up?”

            Do you have a plan for contact tracing? Apparently, that’s the key to keeping the virus in check. I would prefer that work be done by humans rather than by cell phones. I don’t want my comings & goings recorded. As you now know, that kind of thing can really cramp your style.
