My dear Friend and POTUS, DJT,
Should I stay or should I go? That’s the question that I am asking myself this morning as I ponder the LA Times headline, “CA CV Warnings Get More Dire: Cancel Events, Don’t Shake Hands, Stay 6 Feet Away.” I’m supposed to go to a Symposium today to hear our 120 MA students present posters about their teacher research projects. It’s one of those things that will be impossible to reschedule so, as of yesterday, it was still “on.” But reading the news this morning gives me pause. We have our first CV case here in Yolo County, and not too far from here, Santa Clara County has 20 cases. I’ll probably go but I’m going to wear gloves to remind me not to touch my face and not to shake hands.

I was surprised to see that you are entertaining JMB today. It seems like an odd time for a party. Brazil has some CV cases now and Carnival which ended about 10 days ago was the perfect petri dish for the spread of the virus. Folks are wondering if the Brazilian economy can weather this disruption. Seems like a good time to stay home and keep an eye on things. As long as JMB’s going to be at Mar-a-Lago, please ask him to clarify what these up-coming nationwide demonstrations on March 15 are all about. I’m having trouble understanding how a democratically elected president is supportive of anti-democratic demonstrations. I’m also wondering if those demonstrations will create yet another petri dish for CV contagion.
Speaking of petri dishes of contagion, my super-sweet 70-year old neighbors are stuck on the Grand Princess. I encourage you to rethink your idea that everyone should stay on that ship. That could turn into a major disaster!!!
I hope that Mark Meadows turns out to be the best chief of staff ever. I hope he loves you enough to be truthful with you when he thinks you’re heading in the wrong direction. I hope he figures out how to bring out the best in you.
