My dear friend and president, DJT,
I just listened to your remarks this morning and I agreed with much of what you had to say. I agree that hate has no place in America, that we must celebrate the dignity of every life and that the internet has radicalized some people. I hope that your goals of promoting a loving society and condemning bigotry are on the top of your priority list. I'm afraid that I don't feel you expressing a lot of love for your opponents during your rallies. Perhaps you can work on that.
I'm sure you have heard the speculation that the El Paso shooter is an eco-facist, as was the Christchurch shooter. I'd never heard of an eco-fascist until I read Jeff Sparrow's piece in today's Guardian. He noted that genuine fascism is"an ideology of violence centered on the extermination of opponents." The eco part of it comes from the idea that Earth is doomed due to climate change and so eco-fascists are accelerating its destruction. Jason Wilson, writing in the Guardian in March, explained, "they see as human overpopulation (as a threat)" and don't like migration. He says eco-fascists have a kind of "blood and soil" mentality promoted by the Nazis that sees a "mystical link between race and a particular territory." I'm sure you don't want to be associated with this misguided ideology, so I encourage you to stop using such harsh adjectives to describe immigrants.
Whatever convoluted logic may be driving some of the shooters, do you agree with me that no one needs to be able to shoot 10 rounds without having to reload? According to Robert Spitzer writing in today's NYT the gun industry is about to release some lighter guns with "better anti-friction self-lubricating technology" that will enable them to shoot 40 - 100 rounds. You could start by banning those. It would be a small start but it would show that you are trying.
I hope you'll start spreading the love today,
RCA
