My dear Friend and President, DJT,
Did you watch those college kids play their hearts out on the basketball court yesterday? Wasn't it wonderful to see the underdogs winning? I'm impressed with Auburn but wonder if they can win without their star.
I suspect that you spent some time on your golf course yesterday. Next time you do, I encourage you to go to a golf course that someone else owns. According to the Daily KOS your golfing has cost US taxpayers $100 million and some of that $ goes back into your pocket via your golf business. Best to give some of that cash to someone else. You could head over to PGA National Resort and then the $ would go off to the Canadian investors who own Brookfield Asset Management. When it's back in action you could head over to West Palm Beach Municipal so that the local tax payers could get a cut in the action. It's best to spread the wealth, don't you think?
I am wondering about this trade deal with China. According to today's NYT, “It seems like those types of really simplistic purchasing commitment type of arrangements would actually reinforce state ownership rather than discourage it,” that doesn't sound like a good idea. The article also notes that "with the American economy hovering near full employment, it lacks the productive capacity to raise exports by hundreds of billions of dollars in the short term." So, if you want to cut the trade deficit with China, we'd better welcome those folks in the caravans with open arms and put them to work.
I hope the 2019 Prison Reform Summit and First Step Act Celebration goes well this afternoon. Thanks for signing that legislation. Mass incarceration is a really bad idea! Now you can use your bully pulpit in support of the Compassionate Release Provision so elderly and ill inmates can spend their last months with family. Please include something about that in your remarks this afternoon.
Nice to see you enjoying some time with your grandkids on your helicopter.
Best,
RCA
