My dear Friend and President, DJT,
Really Donald? Close the border with Mexico? Not going to happen! Please don't threaten things that are so absurd. I know you are frustrated by the caravans of desperate people headed our way. I think you need to develop a new mindset. We have an abundance of jobs right now and farmers need help in the fields. Let's open our arms and welcome those moms and dads in the caravan. That's what Columbia is doing for the people of Venezuela. I think we should do the same.
Instead of worrying about the caravans, how about turning your attention to saving the manatees instead? I'm sure you heard about them yesterday when you visited Lake Okeechobee, aka Lake O. Of course, the manatee don't live in the lake but they suffer when the algae blooms there and ends up out in the ocean. As you know every living thing suffers when that happens. And it's happening A LOT.
Don't you wish it weren't so complicated? The Army Corps of Engineers does it's best to control Mother Nature and figure out exactly how much water the lake should have in it - too much H2O and it has to be released to avoid flooding and the algae gets loose, not enough and the farmers won't have water for their crops. Controlling Mother Nature is getting more challenging now that the weather has become less predictable. Fixing the dike might help but we also need to restore the rest of the Everglades. It's a big sponge that can absorb excess water as needed.
Apparently, the folks in FLA are arguing about what to do. Getting the farmers to cut back on the fertilizer would help a lot! Maybe you can put in a word about that. According to the kids of the Clewiston Christian FFA Farmers love, you so they might just listen. The manatee would be so grateful, as would I.
Have fun on the golf course. Maybe you could cut back on the fertilizers there, too.
