My dear Friend and President, DJT,
Have you taken your Christmas stuff down? That's what we'll be doing today. What's the plan for all of those weird red trees that folks were making fun of? Will they go to the Smithsonian? I hope they don't just get thrown away.
Are you sure you want to declare this border thing a "national emergency" so you can divert military funds to the wall project? I think Lila Johnson, the 72-year old federal worker that I wrote to you about on Jan 1 is facing an emergency because she can't pay her bills. Please address that emergency first. It's a lot more urgent.
So, I'm confused about that meeting you had yesterday with NPD and CES and a guy named, Steny. NPD said it was "lengthy and contentious." You said it was "very productive." WSJ says you opened it with a "15-minute profanity-laced rant about impeachment." At the press conference, afterwards, you talked about how border crossers drive to the fence east of San Diego, follow it until it stops and then they "turn left." I'm not sure that really happens but the description evokes a vivid image of sinister-looking guys speeding along the border and then careening through a left turn. I'm afraid that my news outlets did not pick up on that part of the news conference. They also did not pick up on your idea to use US Steel to build the wall. The shiny aspect would be consistent with your image, but so much more expensive. I don't think you'd get very much wall if you went with the steel option. You might want to economize.
I hope you get a chance to meet Rep. Lauren Underwood, the youngest Black woman in US history to serve in the House. She has a cute video in the Chicago Trib today where she shows off her new office on Capitol Hill. She's a nurse with a heart condition so she's going to get involved with health care issues. She's representing a lot of GOP folk so you might want to reach out to her.
Have a great day,
