My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Are you back from Rome now? Are you feeling ok? Jet lagged? I got an extra hour of sleep last night, so I am feeling perky.
How is VOZ? The news indicates that you, two, had a productive conversation at the Vatican. Fingers crossed you can help find a way to peace. I like the idea of using the Russian $$ we have confiscated to pay for repairs in Ukraine. If VVP needs to “rule” Crimea, so be it. The people in Burma have proven that it’s hard to govern people who hate you. VVP’s going to have a giant mess on his hands & his idea to exclude Ukrainian ultranationalists from government will only fuel the fury of those who love their country. Are you trying to set VVP up to fail, by giving him what he wants?
Be careful what you wish for! That’s one of the slogans I share with my colleagues when they write grants.
SoW, I am so sad that Sethuraman Panchanathan resigned as the leader of NSF. The staff at NSF are reeling right now. Please tell ERM & his crew to leave them alone! ERM knows more than anyone that scientific research makes the world a better place. His gadgets use the principles & theories generated by centuries of experimentation & observation. Deep knowledge of the natural world does not present a danger, rather it is a source of enlightenment.
It’s too bad you’re missing the WH Correspondents’ Dinner tonight. Do you think Fani Stipkovic will be there? I just discovered her today when I googled, “Let go of your ego.” She had some great things to say about removing fear & doubt. My favorite line from her post was, “I don't believe the aim should be to be more "careful" but rather to be "full of care."
Good news from Burma! The BBC has launched a news channel on the Thaicom 6 satellite to replace VOA & will deliver news in Burmese. The people there need a trusted news source. I look forward to the day you realize we should have a voice there to offset the influence of XJ.
