My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

How was the Daytona 500? Did you bring ear guards for Luke & Carolina? It’s too bad you had to leave before the race was over. Was it too boring or did you have something else to do?

SoW, how do you respond to boredom? Does it give you an itch to do something? Do you get so agitated that you must act? I believe sitting still, without something interesting to do, makes you want to jump out of your skin. If I am right, you experience “negative urgency” more than most, & it leads to poor impulse control. The latest research indicates that, due to their brain chemistry, some people are more averse to boredom than others, which leads them to do things they regret later.

My family tends toward the spontaneous end of the spectrum so I can relate to your inclination to jump in & get going on a project without figuring out all of the details in advance.

As your f(F)riend, I mention this to you so you can be mindful of this trait & be aware when it is getting you into trouble.

I’m afraid ERM may have it, too, so you, two, are not bringing out the best in each other. My BFF(14) is NEVER impulsive. She carefully deliberates about everything. That’s why we make such a great pair! Do you have a friend like that? Is Susie Wiles the person who slows you down? I encourage you to consult with her, next time ERM wants to bring his 4-year-old to the Oval Office or decides to fire people.

SoW, people are calling the terminations, “blind cost cutting” making us lose our best people. The “probationary workers” who are being abruptly fired include “people who were recently moved or promoted into new positions.” Those tend to be the ambitious up & comers that we need, especially when it comes to dealing with our nuclear waste. Just because they work at the Dept of Energy does not mean they are your enemies! Likewise, the National Park Service protects our greatest treasures. Dismissing so many of the rangers leaves our parks vulnerable to looting & destruction.

General Min Aung Hlaing seems to be on the impulsive end of the spectrum, too. I encourage you to learn more about him so you can influence him in a positive direction & help him make better decisions. Releasing Aung San Suu Kyi would be a good first step toward a better future in Burma.

Andrea Bonior Ph.D. suggests we can cut down on rash behavior by taking a pause to breathe. Please give that a try & I will do the same.

            BYBS,
