My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I’m so sorry that the infernos in LA kept you from visiting the Pope this weekend. I presume that being in his company would have soothed your soul & helped relieve your angst about your retirement. Luckily, you can go visit him after Jan 20.
When you nominated him for the for the POTUS Medal of Freedom, you mentioned his Light. I wonder if it’s tangible when you are in his presence. Does he radiate love? If so, I suggest you bask in his glow for as long as you can.
I suggest that you go to Rome on the down low, avoiding publicity. Maybe go incognito, if that’s possible. Having a private visit with PF would allow you both to bond, human to human & share your truths. He can advise you on how best to use your time to make the world a better place.
I was relieved to see the piece in the G today about Bob Woodward’s denial of the quotes attributed to him in Comer’s book about you. It’s too bad that in reporting they repeated the misquotes. Avoiding that would prevent them from being repeated.
Fingers crossed that the progress made on the Hamas-Israeli ceasefire & hostage release deal continues. Did you get the sense in your conversation with Bibi yesterday that he was amenable?
Speaking of that kind of thing, are there any protestors in Lafayette Park right now? If so, what kind of police presence is there?
I ask because I am preparing myself for protests & the possible police response I may encounter. I was relieved to read in the CSM that some police have employed Dr. Clifford Stott to consult with them about preventing police brutality at marches. Seattle & Columbus have had some success with his idea of embedding “dialogue officers” among the protestors to get info & deescalate situations. This may foil organizers’ attempts of drawing media attention to their cause, but I like the idea of avoiding violence.
As you express concern about the folks who have lost homes in So Cal, please don’t forget the folks all over the world who suffer, including families of those in Burma whose loved ones got caught in the recent landslides at the jade mines in Kachin state.
BYBS,
