My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I had an encounter with a stranger on my Riverwalk-care expedition today. She thanked me for picking up trash & then wondered how frequently the city cleaned the area. We chatted & walked together for a few minutes. It was nice.
SpiritualLivingforBusyPeople.com suggests that “participating wholeheartedly in brief exchanges (with strangers) can help you get outside of your own head, or brighten your mood, or help you feel connected with the larger world, or even bring you the answer to a thorny problem,” perhaps you should encourage everyone to do this. I’m not inclined & I’m missing out.
I hope your visit to NOLA to advertise your Cancer Moonshot goes well. I was happy to see that Dartmouth will be getting a piece of the $150 million in grants being given to 8 cancer centers, but I was disappointed that the total dollar amount was less than the cost of one F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. Certainly, we can do better than that.
The website of the Fred Hutch Cancer Center impressed me with their info about how our bodies naturally fight cancer all the time. They say we have 30 trillion cells in our bodies & most have “at least one genetic misspelling in the DNA letters that spell out our genes. A healthy organ can stop a cancer cell cold.” So, let’s promote healthy living as much as we promote curing cancer! It’s not as profitable, but it will prevent a lot of suffering.
SoW, the Rohingya in Burma are enduring more than I can imagine. The G says, “Many dozens of Rohingya people, including children, were killed in an artillery & drone attack that targeted civilians as they tried to flee Myanmar last week… The militia & Myanmar’s military blamed each other for the attack.” Please see what we can do to help.
I am worried about that the unrest in Bangladesh will affect the million or so Rohingya refugees living in Cox Bazar. Please keep a close eye on that situation.
BYBS,
