My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

WCTS? You may remember I introduced you to that on 6/1/24. It stands for What Canst Thou Say? & is a reminder that we each have direct contact with the divine spark that operates in & through us. WCST?

I appreciated what you said in your recent interview with Robert Costa. I agree with you that the SCOTUS is “out of whack.” Mentioning 45’s response to Charlottesville & evoking Heather Heyer’s name provided a vivid reminder of what things were like when 45 was in charge. I hope undecided voters were listening.

I was especially moved when you spoke about Beau & his insistence that you stay engaged after his passing. It seems you, two, had a remarkable bond. Do you think he experienced the 1st-born premium which comes from babies getting 100% of their parent’s time? Beau was the one & only for just a year but getting the undivided attention from you & Naomi could have been critical to his development.

I am wondering about bonds between parents & children after spending a week alone with my mom. Our usual dynamic emerged with me pressing her to be more liberal in her politics & her giving me more direction in the kitchen & driving, etc, than I wanted. I have learned that I need to consult with her constantly to make sure I am doing things right. It’s tiring.

Cooking is my mom's forte, & we made a spectacular bean patty together, so we found our groove. Unfortunately, we had a major meltdown in the car, when she was asking me how to operate her phone while I was trying to figure out which way to go at an intersection. I regret that.

According to Kathrin Boerner, PhD, those of us with old moms are challenged because no one wants to hear us complain about how tricky it is to be with them, so I will stop.
