My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

Food for thought is the best kind of nutrition! It’s better than eggs or oatmeal or a bagel. I eat newspapers for breakfast to keep my neurons firing & my heart pumping as I encounter intriguing fun facts & useful information which fuel me for the rest of my day.

For example, Jamelle Bouie’s piece in today’s NYT, “Kamala Harris Can’t Escape Gaza Any More Than Joe Biden Can,” provided me with a new vocabulary word in the sentence, “Vietnam, among other crises & controversies, produced a deep split within the Democratic coalition, between voters who felt alienated by the movement against the war & activists who felt betrayed by an old guard of sclerotic party elites.”

I found “sclerotic” means “becoming rigid” & also describes my husband’s condition of the “replacement of the normal organ-specific tissue with connective tissue.” His latest sclerosis is in his shoulder where the joint is failing as his hips & ankles have done over the years. Equipped with this new word, I can sound smart when asking for palliative care to ease his latest pain.

Now that my appetite for novelty has been sated, I can turn my attention to your comings & goings.

You’re lucky you don’t have to read the news to satisfy your need for novelty as everyday brings once-in-a-lifetime moments commemorating anniversaries, celebrating victories & acknowledging the passing of influential people. If I were you, I’d be exhausted after only one event. I’m not sure how you get through a day like yesterday’s when you went from the celebration of the signing of the 1964 Civil Rights Act at LBJ’s library to the memorial service of Rep Shiela Jackson Lee.

Here’s your food for thought for today: the Diplomat says, “the United Wa State Army (UWSA) has emerged as a potentially decisive force in Burma,” as the UWSA maintains ties with China, the junta & other EAOs in its expanding control of the Shan region. Please ask your people for intel to confirm.

            BYBS,
