My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            The murder of crows are back in the massive pecan tree in my neighbor’s yard. They are making a racket right now making me wonder if they are trying to let their buddies know where to find them or just expressing their excitement for the bounty of nuts they are enjoying. Maybe they are just exercising their syrinx as they start the day.

            Photos of the Amtrak event yesterday show you grinning from ear to ear. As “train-rider-in-chief” you must have been thrilled to announce a new tunnel in Baltimore, replacing one built in the 19th century, whose sharp curve & incline forces trains to slow to 30 mph.

            I look forward to the photos from today’s event, American Possibilities: A White House Demo Day.  The only info I could find about it was that “Life of a Neuron (LOAN)” would be featured.

I wish I could take our 5th graders to LOAN to “walk into artistic renditions of a brain at the cellular level” & “walk away with a profound reminder that humans across the globe share the basic building blocks of existence.”  Knowing about how neurons fire might help them appreciate the beauty of their brains.

Please take a look at today’s piece in the WP about Burma & the plight of the displaced families whose camps keep getting bombed. More than half the people in the camps are kids, victims of what the WP called “ one of the world’s most intense conflicts.” As you try to help the children of Gaza, please try to help the Burmese kids, too.

            The crows have quieted down, now. May they have a peaceful day. May you have one, too.
