My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I’m having a race with myself. Can I write this letter in 12 minutes? Then shower & dress & leave the house by 6:45? I am hosting my colleague in the 5th grade today & we are meeting beforehand to prepare. She is the ever-ready bunny & will be there on time, so I can’t be late.
Luckily for me, but maybe not for you, you have 2-3 mentions in my news outlets. Specifically, how Dean Phillips plans to run against you (I will read about that later) & how voters are having 2nd thoughts about you due to Gaza.
I read a piece in CSM discussing why veteran global reporter, Ned Temko, has hope for the Mid-East. He emphasizes that the situation is complex with “both sides feel(ing) immensely vulnerable, immensely uncertain, & immensely angry.” He articulated a hunch I have had about how the Hamas kids “didn’t expect to prance so easily over the border barrier & find it so lightly defended in the south of Israel” which “deeply changed how Israelis feel about their own army.” The Oct 7 incident has led the average Israeli to “a dawning realization that their own interests in a stable, secure existence, in which they have a future, depends on some sort of resolution of this core dispute.” Most importantly he asks, “what happens the day after?”
Please keep asking Bibi that question! Please do not give him anymore weapons.
I know you have a lot on your mind, but please do not forget the citizens of Burma.
BYBS,
