My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I am relearning songs of my childhood. Specifically, “Peace I ask of thee, oh, river” & “Let there be peace on Earth & let it begin with me.” They are excellent mantras in this turbulent time. Do you have songs that help you maintain clarity?
Did you have fun with the Aussies at the WH last night? According to the G, you had quite the group including a rap star, an Indigenous voice process co-designer & a body positivity activist. WOW! Did you invite Sean Turnell, the Australian economist detained by the junta? Perhaps he isn’t traveling since the junta revoked his pardon.
How are you feeling about Mike Johnson’s ascendency to Speaker? My heart soared when I heard him making a gracious overture to Hakeen Jeffries saying, “I know that in your heart you love & care about this country & you want to do what’s right”. I also like that he’s a policy wonk who has studied constitutional law. I am not so enthusiastic on his stance toward the last election or abortion.
Do you think he’ll achieve his goal of passing separate appropriations bills rather than an omnibus one. If he does, it will be awfully hard for his colleagues to vote against your proposal to spend $16 billion in child-care.
Did you funding proposals include $$ to help civilians in Burma? Today’s news from the VOA highlights the dire state of affairs things there. They report that Burmese immigrants in Israel feel it is a safe haven in comparison to Myanmar. Even though they are having a tough time making ends meet, “the Burmese community residing in Israel is joining together to offer their support by providing their labor where it's most needed," including “preparing food for Israeli soldiers at the front lines.”
Let’s hold the people of Lewiston, ME in the Light as they grieve for their neighbors & shelter in place while the police hunt for Robert Cord. Perhaps this incident will lead Mike Johnson to reconsider his position on the 2nd Amendment.
BYBS,
