            Happy Labor Day – I hope you enjoy your visits to Milwaukee & Pittsburgh today. I’m sure you’ll give a shout-out to the UAW union members striking against CNH in Mt. Pleasant. Among other things, they want to get rid of mandatory overtime.

How can mandatory overtime even be a thing? No one should be forced to work more than 8 hours. The UAW has a horror story of a laborer being forced to stay at work after returning from being sick with Covid even though she was having trouble breathing.

I hope you get a chance to chat with Local AFL-CIO Pres. Stephanie Bloomingdale whose strike mantra is “one day longer, one day stronger.” I love seeing women in charge!

            Speaking of which, you have to watch Jonathan Pie’s (JP) video talking about ABdPJ’s replacement as PM of the UK. He says Liz Truss (MET) wants to crush unions & have a “red tape bonfire.” He’s outraged at the greed of the energy companies & is worried that Brits will have to choose between food or heating this winter. Zoe Williams of the G thinks MET won’t last long. What do you think?

            Please also call Noeleen Heyzer (NH), the United Nations special envoy on Myanmar. She would like to visit Aung San Suu Kyi to make sure she’s ok, but before she does, she has made the following requests to the SAC (State Administrative Council, the junta’s name for itself): an end to executions, the release of all children in detention, the unimpeded and immediate delivery of humanitarian aid, an immediate end to violence including aerial bombings, the release of all political prisoners.” Please give NH your support & encouragement.
