My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
“Happy, Not Perfect.” That’s my new mantra. Perhaps, you should adopt it, too. Of course, a mantra implies that one is meditating. I have been doing that since Feb. & I can attest to its benefits. I am learning to let go & decenter. It’s helping my mental health. I encourage you to give it a try.
I wish I could join you on the South Lawn for Elton John’s performance this evening. A Night When Hope & History Rhyme. That should be epic!
Did you notice the Autumnal Equinox yesterday at 9:03 PM when the Earth passed through its maximum tilt? I always notice it because it’s the day that sun rays come back into my house after their summer hiatus. Yesterday, I noticed a patch of light on the floor – bringing me one of those smidgeons of joy I mentioned yesterday.
Do you have plans to address our housing crisis? If so, I am not aware of them. I encourage you to check into Canada’s new law. The govn’t has levied a 1% tax on underused residential properties owned by nonresident, non-Canadians. I learned about it from my Friend who has a summer cottage near Vancouver. She’s upset by it, but I think it could help here. In 2018, 11% of the apartments in NYC were empty or scarcely occupied. Many were owned by foreigners. If rich folks want to have an apartment, they seldom use, they should have to pay for that luxury. It’s worth some consideration.
Please give Thaw Nandar Aung asylum. She’s the Burmese woman who spoke against the junta during the Miss Grand International beauty pageant in Bangkok last year. After traveling to Vietnam, the Thai government won’t let her back in because the junta revoked her passport. The UN is trying to help, but she needs a place to go. Maybe, she could live in one of those vacant apartments in NYC or stay in your underutilized house in Delaware. There’s room in the US & she’s the kind of courageous person who makes this country great. Please see what you can do.
BYBS,
RCA
