My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I am smiling because my washing machine just sang its little song to tell me the load is done. Do you have some improbable things in your life that surprise you with a smidgeon of joy?
Speaking of joy, did J. Capehart’s piece in the WP today bring you some? I loved his sentence that your recent successes should teach us, “not to let low expectations recalcify?”
How are things going at the UN? Did you have a congenial conversation with UK PM Liz Truss? Did you give her some advice on whether to move her embassy to Jerusalem? Did you discourage her from employing “selective Reagonomics?”
I am full of questions this AM – here are some more.
Did you hear BongBong Marcos’ (FRMJ) speech to the UNGA? Did you realize that it coincided with the 50th anniversary of his dad’s declaration of Martial Law? I’m sure he was happy to be away from Manila where activists were making sure citizens do not forget the extra-judicial killings, human rights abuses and forced disappearances that occurred under his dad’s rule. When you talk to FRMJ today make sure you get a commitment to NOT do that again.
I hope you take to heart the sentiment shared in the CSM today, that “much of the world is trying to tell us that there are other problems that the continuing war in Ukraine is sucking the air from” & talk to FMRJ about Burma. You can quote the report given to the UN Human Rights Council yesterday that said, conditions have “gone from bad to worse, to horrific for untold numbers of innocent people in Myanmar”. The report suggests rethinking status quo policies & asks for UN Member States to stand with and for those are “fighting for their lives, their children, their future”. In your speech yesterday you said, ““If parents cannot feed their children, nothing else matters.” Please get busy making sure the children in Burma do not go hungry.
BYBS,
RCA
