My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I just watched the speech you gave yesterday at the ground-breaking. I am sure my BFF will be thrilled to hear about your commitment to “bury the Rust Belt.” I hope the “Industrial Mid-West” does not end up with all of the pollution problems that came with the last industrial revolution.
It was nice to see that some GOPers were there to celebrate with you. I’m sure Sen Rob Portman (RP) appreciated being called a “good man.” It’s too bad that Tim Ryan (TR) feels he must keep his distance from you to win RP’s Senate seat. As you probably know, TR is behind Vance by 3% in recent Ohio polling. The WP called Vance, an “emperor-curious MAGA leader,” which sounds pretty scary to me. Fingers crossed that a new chip factory with thousands of jobs moves the needle in OH.
As usual, I urge you to spend a part of your day checking on the situation in Burma. When I did so this AM, I found a piece published on the US Institute of Peace website that suggests “decades of structural discrimination must be addressed if Myanmar’s resistance is to garner international support and build democracy.” The authors point out that unrecognized ethnic minorities do not have access to the same rights as other citizens, much like our undocumented neighbors in the US, but the folks in Burma were born there, as were their parents & grandparents. They suggest that the NUG needs to “eliminate stratified citizenship and mandate equal protection under the law.” Please do what you can to support this idea. While you are at it, you could also attend to the rights of the undocumented workers in our nation who labor without the benefits their documented neighbors receive.
BYBS,
