My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            It’s Saturday. I hope to plant some tomatoes & watch Duke beat UNC in the NCAA championship semi-finals. You will be off with Jill commissioning the Delaware, our latest nuclear submarine.

            I am disappointed that we spent $3 billion on that thing so 136 men could travel around underwater staring at their 30 computer screens for 2-months at a time. What a giant waste? Those poor men have to endure terrible living conditions & we used our precious resources to equip a vessel that produces radioactive waste. Seems like a folly to me.

            I understand that Jen Psaki might be quitting at the end of the month to go work at MSNBC. From what I could glean from watching West Wing, being press secretary is incredibly taxing. I don’t know how she’s done it while raising two young children. I’m sure she will be relieved to hand it off.

            It comes as no surprise to see that China has pledged unconditional support for the junta in Myanmar & still hasn’t said anything about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. I will hold Xi Jinping in the Light, hoping that his alliance with Shi Youming, a Buddhist monk, back in the ‘80s when he was in Zhengding, had a lasting effect. I find some comfort in thinking that deep in his soul he has compassion & one of these days it might shine through.
