My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            It looks like you are having a late winter chilly day in DC while we have a sunny day here in Davis. We are blessed with a lengthy spring which I relish every year. Our daffodils, almond trees & ceanothus are blooming yellow, white & blue with every shade of green setting off their shine.

            I know that we both are thinking of the people of Ukraine today, holding our breath hoping that VVP will see the error of his ways. As much as he’d like to go back to a day when Russia could dominate folks through intimidation, as I noted yesterday, he’s dealing with a whole new world ready to resist.

            We can no longer be easily broken into tribes by listening to what language someone might speak or the color of their skin. Just because someone in Ukraine speaks Russian does not mean they believe everything that VVP says. Ukraine now has brown people representing them in the Olympics & in parliament. According to Franklin Foer (FF) writing in the Atlantic, Ukrainian Christians fathers are happy when their daughters marry Jews. FF says that the Ukrainian people are “seizing control of their own history” & VVP’s propaganda can’t touch that. I hope you will at some point publicly proclaim that the same spirit motivates the people of Myanmar to resist the oppression of the junta.

            Thanks for sharing your message of “unity, determination, and resolve” to help the people in Ukraine. I will be holding us all in the Light.
