My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
“No joke!” You got that right! Elliott, the bomb cyclone that is threatening half of the country is “no joke.” According to weather.com it’s “hammering” the Midwest right now.
Have you heard of a bomb cyclone before? Today I learned that it is when the air pressure drops superfast due to warm tropical air hitting frigid Artic air causing ferocious winds. According to Scientific American Fred Sanders and John Gyakum, gave this pattern its name in a 1980 study, which makes me think that this phenomenon has become more prevalent in the last 40 years due to climate change. Please include that observation next time we have a bomb cyclone.
I hope the weather does not prevent you from going over the National Children’s Hospital with Jill this afternoon. It’s wonderful that you will be reading Ezra Jack Keats’s ground-breaking book "The Snowy Day” to celebrate its 60th anniversary. According to Scholastic, through Peter, the boy who frolics in the snow, children of color find a positive representation of themselves, which instills a sense of pride and self-acceptance.
I hope you saw David Brooks’ piece in the NYT today where he describes you as a “responsible leader”, who has demonstrated, “… you can’t run a successful society if you centralize power, censor knowledge and treat your people like slaves…
Please continue to do your thing & as you do so, use your influence to help the people of Burma.
BYBS,
