My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            I have to head off to my first faculty meeting of the year. I will be facilitating so I baked some coffee cake so no one will be hangry. It should be an easy meeting because we will be spending the bulk of it discussing three promotion cases all of which are very strong! Best of all, the individuals are HUMBLE! That’s right! All 3 got raving letters from around the country with effusive praise for how ground-breaking their research is, & you’d never know it from meeting them. I feel so lucky to be their colleagues.

            Thanks for going to Puerto Rico today. I hope you meet some wonderful children at the Centro Sor Isolina Ferré Aguayo School. I couldn’t find out anything about the school this morning, but I did learn about Sor Isolina Ferre. She was quite something! A rich girl who decided to join the convent to help the poor. She is credited with disrupting gang violence.  I love her approach which according to ALBIZU73 included going where she was needed, teaching self-sufficiency & using baseball to bring kids together. We need more of that so please put one of your people on the task studying her techniques & spreading the word.

            Please also put one of your people on reading today’s Amnesty International report, The Social Atrocity: Meta and the right to remedy for the Rohingya which, ”details how Meta knew or should have known that Facebook’s algorithmic systems were supercharging the spread of harmful anti-Rohingya content in Myanmar, but the company still failed to act… (they) profited from the echo chamber of hatred created by its hate-spiralling algorithms.” They should be held accountable & regs should be put in place to prevent this kind of thing from happening again.
