My dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
I’m glad that you & MJI had such a good meeting yesterday that you went over time. Did you talk about what you can do to help the people of Myanmar?
MJI hinted that you might be visiting the ROK. When you do, you can visit Hill 205 where Ralph Puckett Jr. exhibited “conspicuous gallantry & intrepidity…heroism and selflessness above & beyond the call of duty.” It’s impressive that he is still going strong at age 94, after all he went through during the Korean War. Your staff should be congratulated for having the forethought to couple his Medal of Honor Ceremony with MJI’s visit to remind us all of the “shared sacrifice” of the ROK & USA 70 years ago & to provide us with hope that nations can “come back from the ashes” as MJI so eloquently stated. All I know about the Korean War I learn from MASH so it seems that it was a lot like Vietnam. Another reminder that WAR IS NOT THE ANSWER.
I hope that the people in the Gaza strip can “come back from the ashes.” Their infrastructure is worse than ever. I hope Bibi is ready to help them put the pieces back together.
Please call Bob Dylan on Monday. He will be turning 80. You can congratulate him for being, “an artist who returns to us the slim hope provided by artistic communion; that by naming it, and seeing it, and singing it, we might yet overcome our own darker nature or at least keep it at bay.” For more info about him, read rabid fan, Edward Docx’s, effusive article in the G about his career.
BYBS,
