My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            We’re fragile, aren’t we? We’re getting old. We’re getting creaky. Everyone is trying to rip us off. This is true of you & I. It’s also true of our country. We’ve got cracked bridges. We’ve got pipeline problems. We’ve got slow internet. I hope you can come to an agreement today with Sen. Capito & her GOP friends about which of these projects to take on. Apparently, she’s ready to make a deal, even though her boss, AMM, says he’s not.

            You might want to ask TN Sen Bill Haggerty to join your meeting today because his Memphis voters are sitting in traffic now that the I-40 bridge is closed for repairs. He might go along with that stepped-up basis idea for raising $$ from the descendants of wealthy stock holders. He should also go along with beefing up the IRS to go after high income tax evaders because he doesn’t have that many rich folks in his state.

            I heard you telling the press yesterday that all you had to do to get a compromise was snap your fingers. I hope that’s true.
