My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,

            Happy Good Friday. This day always reminds me of my visit to Costa Rica at this time of year when I got to witness a re-enactment of the stations of the cross through a village. It was quite a scene & probably much like this Friday 2000 some odd years ago. Families partying on the village square with music & vendors while Jesus crawled by. The event was profoundly moving, bringing home the idea that Jesus refused to bow down to his tormenters. That kind of courage is truly awe inspiring.

            It seems that you had a busy day yesterday. It’s too bad that you couldn’t spend more time acknowledging world autism awareness day. I noticed that you had a conference call with some ministers to let them know that it’s time to preach about getting vaccinated. I’m afraid your implicit bias came through when you compared BIPOC folk to the “traditional” population. At least you caught yourself, & tried to replace that word with “remainder of the white population.” Hopefully, Cedric Richmond can patch over that faux pas.

            I hope that someone told you that the Tatmadaw has now started raiding & looting villages in Burma.

            I’m sure you are going to mass today & I hope you will pray for peace in Myanmar.
