My Dear Friend & POTUS, JRB,
Today will be a busy one for both of us. I have two meetings & my first doctoral seminar of spring quarter. I am excited & a bit nervous about the seminar. It’s on Anti-racism approaches to STEM education. I have a lot to learn about this topic. According to the literature, the seminar will work best if we avoid deficit language & resist binaries. If we can establish a courageous space, we can engage in radical honesty so we can address the white supremacy that has permeated our educational system. It’s a tall order. Perhaps you can adopt a similar approach to your cabinet meeting tomorrow.
I hope your visit to the Carpenters Training Facility in Collier, PA goes well. I’m all in when it comes to infrastructure spending. When you fix the highways, you could use some of the military budget. Then the corporations won’t scream so much about having their taxes raised. You can explain to the Congress that back in the ‘50s, Ike rationalized the Interstate Highway System by saying it was necessary for military maneuvers.
I’m sorry to see that things in Burma have deteriorated so much that you are pulling embassy workers out of the country. It will make it harder to know what’s going on there, especially if the Tatmadaw keeps incarcerating reporters. Please consider providing refugee status to the Burmese fleeing Myanmar so they can come to the US. Fort Wayne, IN has a thriving Burmese community where they would feel safe.
I’m sure Sec. of Transpo, Pete Buttigieg, will be with you at today’s Build Back Better event. He can assure you that the refugees will be received warmly by the Hoosiers.
BYBS,
