My dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
What great graphs you shared with Jonathan Swan (JS) the other day. I suspect that they were given to you by Dr. Birx (DLB). It’s too bad you had a bit of trouble explaining them. Don’t worry, you’re not the only one to get overwhelmed by all that we have to keep track of these days.
Here’s a quick lesson on the difference between the two stats. You like to brag about our deaths/cases stat also known as the case/fatality ratio. We are 14th in the world on that with 3.3%. That means that in a group of 30 people who test positive for CV, 1 will die which is much better than the UK where in a group of 6 who test positive, 1 will die. Our good stat here could be for 1 of 2 reasons. You often remind us we are testing more people so a lot of people test positive who hardly get sick at all. In the UK, they may only be testing the sickest people. The other reason is that we are better at treating CV so that more people survive CV than are surviving in the UK.
Either way, the case fatality rate is DIFFERENT than the death rate. The death rate is based on how many people out of 100,000 citizens die of CV. The UK is the worst in the world on that with almost 70. We are 4th at 47.5. The numerators, # of deaths, in each of these ratios is the same, but the denominators are different - # of people who have tested positive versus # of people in the population. I’m sure that DLB could help you understand this if you’d let her back in the WH. I encourage you to apologize for calling her pathetic. She’s a smart lady & she’s doing her best.
Thanks for signing the GAOA today & helping maintain our National Parks. I’m sure the GOP senators who are up for re-election in MT & CO appreciate your getting on board with a bill that will help make up for 340,500 jobs lost to their tourist industries due to CV. GAOA will add 108,000 jobs to repair roads, buildings & trails so that should help.
BYBS,
