My dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,

            Are you following Hurricane Laura (HL)? I just watched WP’s Matthew Capucci reporting on it from Orange, TX, where he rode out 111 mph winds in the Doppler On Wheels, a fancy weather research vehicle, rigged up to withstand 160 mph winds. He was so fascinated by the intensity of the storm that he made me forget for a moment that HL was hitting our petrochemical corridor. When Hurricane Harvey went through there in 2017, the environment suffered from toxic shock. I’m afraid that’s going to happen again. Unfortunately, FEMA has no cash to spare since you used $44 billion of their budget to fund unemployment checks. Please get busy working with NPP to figure out a better way to fund the CV crisis so FEMA has the $$ it will need for fires, floods & hurricanes.

            I learned that the 2 guys killed by the 17-year old kid in Kenosha were trying to protect others. Anthony Huber was a skateboard enthusiast who tried to subdue the gunmen by hitting him with his board. Please call Hannah Gittings, his partner, to express our condolences.

As I am sure you are aware the Milwaukee Bucks are so distraught about Jacob Blake that they chose not to play their game last night & the rest of the NBA shut down in solidarity with them. I encourage you to develop new discourse for talking about domestic tranquility – law & order doesn’t sit well any more.

            Speaking of tranquility, I found a little bit of it this morning watching Karen Pence’s speech at the RNC. It’s nice to know that vets suffering from PTSD find solace in art therapy. I chose not to watch her husband because the pundits at the NYT said he seemed unreal & was boring. I also find it creepy that he spoke at a National Landmark. I don’t think political speeches belong at such places & I really wish you weren’t speaking from the WH tonight. Why not go down the street to your hotel? It would be great advertising.
