Have I mentioned that I love you recently? Perhaps I assume you know that. Why would I keep up this vigil if I didn’t? Love is on my mind because I intend that my math methods class become a “beloved community” & I need some clarity on what that is. For now, I’ll just say that I got the idea from John Lewis & I’ll tell you more about it soon.
I will devote my remaining 1651 characters to more pressing matters, specifically Storm Isaias (SI) & FL Sheriffs Mike Chitwood (MW) & Darryl Daniels (DD). As I’m sure you know, MW’s got CV & has to quarantine himself. He was at the FL Sheriff conference on Tues & hopes he didn’t infect the other sheriffs in attendance. Many also attended your event yesterday. They didn’t wear masks. Did they get close to you?
CW wishes he could be out & about to help his constituents prepare for SI. It’s still a Cat 1 storm but it’s aiming for the Space Coast right now. He says he has faith in his crew so, fingers crossed, all will end well.
CW seems like a good guy. He’s an exercise fanatic & talks like a New Yorker. Does everyone in FL do that? He’s proud of the fact that he was an early adopter of body cams. All of his officers wear them, all of the time. I think it’s great that he wants to be as transparent as possible. He says, “when you have trouble getting information, it’s because the information is troubling.” I hope you will call him, so he can tell you more about that.
I encourage you to call DD, also. He could use some guidance. He is talking about deputizing the citizens of Clay County to use their guns to intimidate protesters. Clearly a bad idea that will lead to violence. I worry that he feels he has to act tougher than everyone else because he is African American. He’s facing 6 opposing candidates in the Nov election & they are reminding voters that his former mistress was arrested for stalking him. They claim he ordered her arrest, but he denies it. Hard to say if his extra-marital affair will bother anyone.
