Friend, DJT,
Are you sure you want to go Dallas today? They have a record number of CV cases (300) & 3 more deaths including a woman in her 40’s. They’ve had an increase in hospitalizations, too. It’s probably best to wear a mask at that fund-raising dinner tonight, especially if people want to get their picture taken with you. I hope they are serving the best steak in the land for the $580,600 price tag of the dinner.
I was surprised to learn that you didn’t invite the Dallas Law Enforcement leaders to your roundtable today. I hope you invited Sara Mokuria (SM), co-founder of Mothers Against Police Brutality. She would like to see Dallas investing more money into mental health programs, drug treatment and the schools rather than militarizing the police department. I think your friend, Sonnie Johnson (SJ), who joined you at the WH yesterday would approve of that plan. Wasn’t it great that the person who had the most advice for you yesterday was the only woman at the table? She spoke my mind about Opportunity Zones and the way that they are leading to gentrification. I think you need more folk like SM & SJ on your team.
I’m sure you are excited to get out and about, but I encourage you to reconsider visiting OK next week. Your visit is going to shine a bright light on a place with a terrible racial history. I don’t think the folks of Tulsa want the world to know about the massacre of 300 Black folk in the most prosperous African-American community in the country 99 years ago. Moreover, visiting on June 19th suggests that you are completely callous. I like to think that’s not the case so I hope you will at least choose to go on a different day, and at best, choose a different city in OK – Norman would be preferable.
HYITL,
