My dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
Just watched live stream video of your visit to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Wasn’t it perfect weather for a somber occasion, overcast & cool?
Were able to quiet your mind so you could experience the deep emotion that Memorial Day can evoke? When you kissed your hand and lay it on the wreath, did you feel the weight of all of the untimely deaths of youth losing their lives in battle? Perhaps you also felt the weight of all of the untimely deaths occurring right now. Friends at the Northside Meeting in Chicago are proposing we have a National Day of Mourning so we could all come together to share our sorrow over all we have lost in recent months. Please give that some consideration. It would be a great way to bring some closure to our compassionate retreat & let us begin to venture out.
Are you sure you want to go over to a city that you consider “rat & rodent infested?” You know you’re not wanted there. Fort McHenry is not open to the public. Mayor Jack Young says that folks in MD are under a “safer-at-home” advisory & he’d prefer you stay at home, too. He doesn’t want to direct his police over to the Fort when they are busy trying to enforce social distancing orders. Folks in the People Power Assembly protested yesterday by driving their cars around to express their disapproval of your visit. Even Gov. Larry Hogan would rather stay at home than join you. He is using the excuse that it’s his 64th birthday, but I think he doesn’t want to be seen with you, even though he’s a Republican.
If you have to go, try to keep your remarks positive & please say something to denounce the actions of the misguided individuals who hung an effigy of KY Gov. Andy Beshear in front of the capitol building in Frankfort. That kind of intimidation does not belong in a pluralistic democracy & is not what our soldiers fought for. It would soothe my soul to hear you express your disapproval.
HYITL,
