My Dear Friend & POTUS, DJT,
How was India? I loved seeing the photo of you and Melania planting the sapling at Rajghat, Ghandi’s memorial. Did they tell you what kind of tree it was? My guess it that was a Pipal, also known as Holy Fig, which has many medicinal uses including curing hiccups. Maybe you should plant one at the WH. Apparently, many foreign dignitaries plant trees at Ghandi’s memorial. Unfortunately, 108 of the 188 have died. I hope yours is like the False Ashok tree planted by Marshal Tito in 1954 which is still alive. Did you happen to notice if Barack’s tree is ok?
I was very troubled to learn that the Muslim women’s protest that I mentioned yesterday has become violent. According to the Guardian, some Hindus attacked the protesters and now cars are on fire; schools have been burned and 11 people have died. The police can’t get things under control and the unrest is spreading. Such a contrast to Ghandi’s message of peace! I’m worried that NDM has stoked the anti-Muslim sentiments so some Hindus feel justified in their rage. I hope you will see the danger of that kind of rhetoric and start being more careful about what you say.
I encourage you to make a statement about the passing of mathematician Katherine Johnson, one of the women featured in the film, “Hidden Figures.” She was a brilliant, courageous trail blazer who broke the race barrier by becoming one of the first 3 African Americans doctoral students at West VA U. She had already learned so much math that she had a hard time finding courses. She used her geometry skills to figure out the trajectories of rockets and John Glenn trusted her computations over those of the computer. What an inspiration!!!
BYBS,
