My dear friend and POTUS, DJT,

            I understand that you will be coming to our Golden State this afternoon. You’ll find hazy sunshine in Beverly Hills today as you meet with the LA Olympic 2028 organizers. I hope we can work with you and Ben Carlson to figure out a way to help the folks who are unsheltered in our state before July, 2028, so we can celebrate the games without the shadow of displaced persons hanging over us. You may encounter the NOlympics protesters chanting “We need homes, not games” outside the meeting venue. Mayor Eric Garcetti (EMG) knows all about them and might be able to help you to understand their position. I hope EMG is right when he says that the Games are going to yield a $1 billion profit for LA. We can use that $$ to build some housing and it’ll be a win-win. Please float that idea in the meeting today.

            I am hoping for the best with the Afghan talks. Laurel Miller opining in today’s NYT says you’re going to need patience and warns that the peace process is not going to give you “a definitive political win before the American presidential election.” You know that I am against war and would like to see our troops out of there ASAP. I also worry about what the Taliban will do to women and girls once we leave. So, let’s take it slow and make sure we don’t waste the investment that we’ve made in Afghanistan for the last 20 years.
