It's a breezy morning here in Davis. A hot wind is blowing in and today will be a scorcher. Luckily, by the end of the week, we'll be cool.
It seems that the political winds are blowing around you, too. This Ukrainian/Biden thing could be your Waterloo, or it could work in your favor. The dirt you have dug up about Biden certainly won't help him. Is your plan to drag this out as long as you can so Biden looks bad and we all get tired of it?
What do you think about that piece in the WP today by the 7 freshmen congress people including Elissa Slotkin (EBS) of D8 in Michigan? She won her seat by the slimmest of margins so she's taking a risk in calling for an investigation and possible impeachment. She's drawing on her CIA experience to express her concerns about "inherent contempt". I don't have time to learn about that, but it sounds serious! As you well know EBS and her colleagues have been loath to use the "I" word so it's notable that they got together to write this column. She's a Jewish farmer, by the way. Isn't that intriguing?
Thanks for asking Jacinda Ardern (JKLA) about NZ's gun buy backs at your "pull aside" yesterday. I hope you'll follow up with her to learn more about that. It sounds like the two of you had a nice conversation. According to the Guardian, JKLA said your “warmth and high regard” for New Zealanders shone through" and you demonstrated “good knowledge and understanding” of the country and some of the “big personalities that have come out of New Zealand,” namely the golfer, Bob Charles. Will you introduce me to her some day?
