My Dear Friend and President, DJT,
Have you heard of Ozy? I bumped into it this morning in my daily news exploration. I'm not sure what to think of it. From what I can tell, it's curated news with a bit of original stuff thrown in.
Do I need my news curated? I'm not sure. I like to think that I am curating my own news when I hunt around to find out where you are going and what the local paper has to say about your visit. Or when I go to the Facebook pages of the politicians you are meeting with to see how they are presenting themselves to the world. Or when I Google the CEO who is coming to the WH to see what their agenda is. Maybe personal investigation is the opposite of curating.
While I do not need Ozy to curate my news, I am drawn to their ethos, "think big, but be humble" and their desire "to challenge assumptions about the way the world is in order to see the world the way it could be" so I will be checking their site. I will be doing that with the same skepticism I read the NYT and WP and digging deeper into the web to draw my own conclusions.
Speaking of humility, isn't it wonderful that tomorrow over 2 million Muslims will be practicing humility as they begin their Hajj to the Kaaba in Mecca? Wealthy pilgrims are supposed to dress in the same simple outfit as everyone else so everyone is equal. Pilgrims aren't supposed to argue, fight or lose their tempers which must be very difficult when you are crammed into a small space with thousands of others. Like Jesus, Muhammad showed his humility by showing respect to everyone including servants, poor and sick folk, as well as children. I think that's a great model to follow, don't you?
I wonder what kind of humility Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman practices. Perhaps you can call him tomorrow, find out how the Hajj is going.
Your humble servant,
RCA
