My dear friend and president, DJT,
I hope you have a nice visit with Romanian President Klaus Iohannis(KWI) today. I understand that you'd like Romania to find alternative sources of energy so they don't have to depend on Russian gas. They'd love to build a LNG terminal on the Black Sea but that would require Turkey to let tankers through the Bosphorus Strait and since they have 4 LNG terminals of their own, they aren't inclined to do that. Energy independence might have to come from the sun and the wind. I think that would be a great way for us to gain energy independence in the USA, too.
In trying to learn more about KWI's hope that Romanians could enter the US without visas, I found a NYT story about Constantin Mutu, a 4 month-old baby taken from his Romanian father at the TX border and sent to live with a foster family in MI for 5 months. Constantin is back with his family in Romania but he's not talking yet at 18 months old. Not surprising because, in addition to the trauma of being ripped from care givers TWICE, during a critical time of language development he was hearing English rather than Romani. I hope that kind of thing isn't happening any more. Perhaps you and KWI can figure out what to do about the persecution of the Romani people in Romania so folks like the Mutus don't feel like they have to seek asylum in the US.
Have you gotten help for SM yet? Today I learned from TIME magazine that he tried to prevent immigrant children from getting a public education. Luckily in Plyler vs Doe, the Supreme Courtprohibited states from denying free public education based on children's immigration status so that plan fizzled. Please remember what the justices said in that case that punishing children for their parents’ actions “does not comport with fundamental conceptions of justice.” SM needs to feel some love. Try putting a baby in his arms - that might do the trick.
Best,
RCA
