DJT,
We've got the weird light that comes when there's a fire somewhere. It gives an orange hue to everything which would be beautiful if it didn't signify destruction. It also means we are breathing particles that will damage our lungs. It has become all too familiar this year so we don't talk about it. I find it ironic that this fire has consumed a town called, Paradise. Please expedite the disaster relief for those folks.
So, you are off to Paris to commemorate the 1918 Armistice. I wish you were planning to join the Paris Peace Forum where smart folks from around the globe are going to talk about our global challenges and address the "fragility trap." I think a conversation with them might give you some ideas on how to address the issues of Honduras and the other spots that the people in the Caravan are fleeing. If we could get some economic growth going there we might not have a refugee crisis. It's not too late to change your plans and attend some sessions with the rest of the leaders who will be attending the Forum.
According to the NYT, Emmanuel Macron would like the world to know that the lesson of WWI is "nationalism kills." I tend to agree and prefer international cooperation to isolationism. I especially like the idea of "inclusive economic growth."
The NYT says Emmanuel "relishes his chances to be tough and confrontational with those he perceives as antagonistic." Maybe that's why you two get along so well. I hope you have a good meeting with him.
I'm sure the parade will be quite a spectacle and I am happy that is happening in Paris rather than in DC.
Have a great time,
RCA
