My dear Friend and president, DJT,
So, you're in Jamestown to celebrate the first meeting of a representative assembly in 1619. I hope that you take VA Gov. Ralph Northam's word to heart, “We know our diversity is our strength, and we welcome immigrants, refugees and all those who, like those who stood on this spot 400 years ago, come to Virginia in search of a better life.”
I will hold you in the Light as it's a moment when you are called to be Presidential. You can help us all appreciate the challenges of working through civic problems so that everyone's voice is heard and everyone's opinion is respected. When the House of Burgesses met 400 years ago for 6 days, they worked through the price of tobacco, how to handle gambling, drukenness and "idleness" and whether or not to require people to observe the Sabbath. I'm sure those 22 men did notcome to agreement right away but they believed in the process so they behaved in a civil fashion and made their compromises. We have a lot to learn from them and I hope you highlight the importance of civil debate.
It's too bad that the whole event has been sullied by your tweeting mistake this weekend. Now the VA State Representative Black Caucus can't stand to be near you and so, are boycotting the event. I really wish you would admit that you erred in writing those nasty things about Baltimore and EEC. Your impulse to repeat what you saw on the Fox Network did not serve you well and now what should have been a lovely event, celebrating democracy, has become all about your bad choices.
All of this negativity is bad for us all! Your blood pressure must be through the roof and I have to take ten deep breaths before I can get out of bed in the morning. It doesn't have to be this hard.
Be your best self today and every day,
RCA
