My dear Friends and President, DJT,

I think it's going to be a great day! Even though I overslept, I will be able to write to you, ride to my office and get some work done. Later in the day I'll be clerking a clearness committee for a gentleman who would like to join the Davis Friends Meeting. That's a special opportunity to get to know someone so I'm looking forward to that. Best of all, the little orange foster dog is on his best behavior so I have a few moments of peace to write.

Are you excited about the Christmas tree lighting ceremony today? It's too bad that you didn't get to go visit your tree's home for the past 22 years in the Mt. Top Fraser Farm in the Appalachians of NC. I imagine it's a beautiful place. One of our family's favorite Christmas stories was written about that part of the country. The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree is about a little girl and her mom's challenge of celebrating Christmas in the absence of dad who is fighting in WWI. You should read it to your Grandkids. It's heartwarming.

I hope you get to meet Larry Smith who owns the farm. I'm sure he is psyched! He had to compete with growers from all over the USA to get the honor. He was named the winner at the National Christmas Tree Association’s annual meeting. Looks like a great organization trying to keep its market and its trees growing with a charitable endeavor called Trees for Troops and its "Keep it Real" ad campaign

We like to keep it real in our house. We buy our trees from a local place where you cut your own. Their trees are 50 years old and customers are supposed to cut the top off so the tree will sprout a new one. This means that all of the trees are oddly shaped. That suits us just fine. I think yours will be the perfect shape. That will suit you just fine, too.

Have wonderful day,

RCA
