My Dear Friend and President, DJT,
I'm sorry that you did not get a chance to attend any of the sessions at yesterday's police chief conference in Orlando. If you had, you would see that the chiefs are desperate to improve community relations. I doubt that the Superintendent of the police, Eddie Johnson, wants his officers stopping and frisking people in Chicago as you suggested in your speech. In fact, he prefers to rebuild bonds of trust between residents as he wrote in his statement after the verdict in the Van Dyke case was announced the other day. You'll remember Van Dyke shot Laquan McDonald 16 times within 6 seconds of arriving at the scene while Laquan walked away from him. Chicagoans want to feel respected not suspected.
I am sure you will hear a similar rhyme from Kayne West when you, two, have lunch together today. I understand that he wants to talk to you about creating job opportunities for former convicts and bringing more manufacturing jobs to Chicago. I'm sure you will have fun talking to each other. He believes you are a kindred spirit because you are both "unguarded" in your speech. He's all about forgiveness. He says he doesn't "cancel" people, and doesn't base his "love for a person on if they are doing something good or bad." Those sentiments remind me of Alice Walker's preference for imperfect people. Let me know if Kayne's in favor of the stop and frisk policy.
Are you really going to Council Bluffs, NE today? The Omaha World Herald and the Lincoln Journal Star did not have stories about your rally on their front page this morning. They both had articles about James Taylor's upcoming concert in Feb, but no news about your visit. The Omaha paper did note that you are working on allowing year-round sales of ethanol and that's good news for the corn farmers.
I hope no one stops and frisks either one of us today. That would be so humiliating.
Best,
RCA
