My dear Friend and president, DJT,
The finches tweet; the refrigerator hums and a crow caws every now and then. The wonderful sounds of morning audible in my perch overlooking the Village Homes Green.
Reading about the passing of 144 peace officers in 2018 reminds me to be grateful for this blessing of tranquility. I just looked up the "Honor Roll of Heroes" to put names and faces to the statistic. 15 officers died due to cancers assumed to be caused by 9/11 recovery efforts.

When I look at lists of civil servants who died I am always drawn to the women. This year there are 10 of them, and Deputy Theresa King (TK) from Wyandotte, MN, caught my eye. She died when a prisoner she was transporting grabbed the gun of her partner and shot both officers. TK was looking forward to being the school resource officer at her 7-year old daughter's school in two months, and she thought her work as a transport officer was relatively safe. Her friends described her as overflowing with joy. Perhaps you can reach out to her 7-year old today when you go to the Peace Officers' Memorial Service. I will hold you in the Light today as you face the families and colleagues of folks who died in their prime.
How was your visit to LA? How's Boysie doing? Thinking of LA reminds me of Mardis Gras and that's how I have begun to think of your administration, the no holds barred party before the famine. We're just going to consume as much fossil fuel as we can, buy the biggest truck imaginable and fly around the globe until we get so hot that we sizzle. We're so jubilant in our gluttony that we can ignore the upcoming fast. I doubt that's your plan. I suspect that you are like my dad and believe that humans are so ingenious that we'll solve this climate change problem when we need to. I sure hope so! I'd like my daughter to enjoy the sounds of the finches tweeting when she's 58.
