Welcome home. I love the photo that you posted to Twitter of Alaska from the sky. Did you take it? It's nice that you got a warm reception at JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON. We share an affection for Alaska, although I suspect that neither one of us would like to live there. Too dark and cold for too long. The summers are amazing though! I was in Fairbanks for the month of July in about 1995 while my husband did a consulting gig. They don't bother with fireworks because it's not dark enough.

 When you met Gov. Mike Dunleavy did you talk with him about his plans to cut the state budget by $1.6 billion? The folks in the Anchorage school district are afraid they'll lose over 1000 jobs as a result. I find it astonishing that a state that has $60.4 billion saved up in the "Permanent Fund" doesn't use some of that money to balance its budget. I know folks don't like dipping into their savings but ... 

Are the folks at the base excited about the 54 new F-35 stealth fighter jets that they will be receiving? Apparently, it's a really cool plane. Speaking of planes and such, what do you think of the job that Secretary Heather Wilsonis doing? She must be excited about being in charge of the new "Space Force." Her resume is amazing to me, from being an Airforce Officer, to being in charge of NM's Children, Youth and Families Department, torepresenting NM in the House, and now being the top dog of the Air Force. I'd love to meet her. Do you two talk often?
