My dear Friend and President, DJT,

            It's 7:07 AM and the sun is up. The birds are chirping, and I'm ready to start the 6th week of the quarter. I am so lucky! I get to spend my days with people who get to think for a living, learn new things, express themselves and test out new ideas. What a luxury to work on a university campus where neurons fire and synapses click. We all get smarter and the world becomes a better place.

            Speaking of which, have you heard about the groups, Better Angels, Civility and TruStory? I just learned about them in Nellie Bowles piece in the NYT. They are non-profits whose goal is to facilitate gatherings of liberals and conservatives so that they can talk. Mark Zuckerberg thinks it's a good idea. He wrote, “Meeting new people and hearing from a wide range of viewpoints is part of learning. If you haven’t tried it, I suggest you do!” I don't regularly interact with many conservatives. It might be time for me to do so.

            Have fun with the Nats today. I hope you'll use the moment to sing their praises. They had an amazing run and deserve a bit more time in the spotlight. Please don't say something that draws attention away from their amazing run.

            I hope you enjoy your trip to Lexington today. You might see the Trump baby mega-balloon there. You have to admit, it's kind of funny. Many folks in KY are troubled by your caustic rhetoric, and your guy, Gov. Bevin, is known to make more than his share of offensive comments, making him the least popular governor in the country. It might be best to let your Better Angels prevail tonight and stay positive.

PS - Did you see that Jane Fonda spent the night in jail? She's my shero.

PSS - What's up with Mike Pompeo spending so much time in Kansas? Shouldn't he be traveling the world making peace? I worry about his motto, "swagger." It's not the first word that comes to mind when I think of our lead diplomat. Please encourage him to rethink that one.
