Dear DJT,
Power's back so I can write on my computer. Yesterday's letter, written by hand, will come in the mail. Who knows when you'll receive it.
The wind has subsided so we have a day to catch our breath and clear away the major debris before the next tempest tomorrow. As you know, we have fires all over the state. It's dire.
I'm sure you are happy at the death of the ISIS guy. I am never happy when someone dies, especially when they take their children with them. I have a hard time fathoming the brutality demonstrated in the name of ISIS. I suspect that until we can ameliorate the desperation that leads young men to join it,, a new leader will emerge and the organization will continue to function. I am reminded of my days of teaching when I would wish that my most disruptive child would just go away. Sometimes, much to my relief, they would. And then, much to my dismay, a different child would emerge as the disruptive one and we'd be back to where we started.
I applaud your courage in showing up for the game last night. You endured the jeers and boos, and watched the Astros crush the Nats. I hope it wasn't too awkward for the Wounded Warriors in your "Washington Suite" when the announcers alerted the fans of your presence in the 3rd inning.
I hope you enjoy visiting with Todd Ricketts in Chi town today. He seems like a super nice guy although the town of Wilmette is after him for some property tax shinenigans. Does he still own the Higher Gear Bike Shop?
According to the Suntimes, people in Chicago would like you to get to know their city better so you will stop denigrating it. Neil Steinberg writes, "Donald Trump doesn’t know Chicago in the way he doesn’t know America. He’s shadow-boxing with a hallucination." You should know that Chicago is the 17th most violent city in the country, after Minneapolis. You should know they are having a teachers' strike. You should know that they embrace immigrants. There will be some protesters today so be prepared.
